Young Artists Foundation
Young Artists Foundation (YAF) trains pre-college string, piano, and woodwind students in chamber music at a conservatory level. By organizing students into local ensembles across the South Bay, Peninsula, and San Francisco, YAF provides greater access to exemplary music education and performances to more bay area communities.

Our Approach
Chamber music is the core of YAF. Students learn the fundamentals of high-level ensemble playing by rehearsing and performing alongside world-class faculty. Each semester, faculty prepare ensembles to perform complete masterworks from the standard repertoire, resulting in rapid student growth and higher standards of playing through direct, curated feedback.

By studying chamber music, all students experience first-hand insights from accomplished teaching artists beyond their primary instrument. Pianists especially gain valuable ensemble experience otherwise inaccessible to them in youth orchestras. In addition to exploring a deeper dimension of music making, students develop an extensive network of mentors, fellow dedicated students, and future colleagues.
