"That F Sharp is too high and needs to match the cello." It sounded off to you too, but you probably didn't know why; Dr. Choi did. YAF faculty have only one job: to identify what students cannot on their own. They measure rhythmic tolerances by milliseconds. They compare which bow directions more faithfully respect the composer's intentions. Every shrill violin open E resolved with a seamless finger pattern, every piano key released with care. This preoccupation with detail means students are held to standards that continue to serve them long after they move on from YAF. We hear everything when it's wrong first, so you get to hear it when it's right.
